Electronics Design Engineer (Embedded Systems)

Are you an experienced electronics engineer specialized in design and development, a team player who is looking for a new opportunity to contribute and learn as member of a dynamic and international product development/engineering team?

Are you passionate about what you do? Do you think you have knowledge and experience to share while having the curiosity and interest to learn and develop yourself?

Do you appreciate creative freedom but also see the value in standards, processes, documentation, and communication for getting things done and helping you to unleash your full potential?

If so, we may have an interesting opportunity for you!

About the role and responsibilities

This is a role for a person with proven competencies and significant work experience in design and development of electronics for embedded systems. We are looking for broad experience rather than a narrow specialization to support our work with diverse applications and platforms.

In this role you will be a key member of a multidisciplinary embedded engineering team developing diverse new products as well as maintaining older products on a project-by-project basis. The working mode is a mix of independent and self-guided work and collaboration with team members, clients, partners, and suppliers.

Your main task is to specify, design, implement, verify and document digital and analog circuits and functions on board and device level utilizing a good working knowledge of components, materials, testing and manufacturing processes. You build and measure prototypes in lab and participate in coordinating factory builds with our manufacturing partners. You work together with mechanical engineers for electronic-mechanics integration and with software engineers for HW-SW co-development and board bring-up and verification of MCU/MPU-based systems. You participate in regulatory and standards conformance work, such as EMC and environmental testing and in design and implementation of test systems including R&D, certification, and production test systems.

Succeeding in this role requires:

  • Several years of electronics design experience – this is not an entry level role.

  • Proven digital and analog electronics design and verification skills.

  • Good schematic and layout design skills with at least one common electronics CAD system (Altium and PADS preferred)

  • Practical prototyping, testing and measurement skills

  • Good understanding of electronics-software co-development, board bring-up, testing and debugging

  • Sufficient understanding and knowledge of regulatory/standards compliance and certifications, NPI, manufacturing and lifecycle management

  • Relevant engineering education on college or university level or equivalent theoretical background

  • Analytical, systematic, problem solving-oriented approach to work

  • Appreciation for quality, maintainability, processes, standards, documentation, and communication

  • Capability for both independent work as well as smooth and supportive teamwork

  • Good documentation and writing skills

The following are desirable:

  • Software development/programming skills and experience in embedded SW development, testing and debugging

  • Mechanical CAD experience, MCAD-ECAD co-design, practical mechanics skills e.g., usage of tools for prototyping

  • RF knowledge and skills
